For the contemporary dance festival Landing '08, St. Olavs Hospital Trondheim, I was commissioned to do an installation with producer/dance instructor Stine Lie Pettersen. I decided to involve Daniel Lacey McDermott on electronics and as a part of hour creative team. Together we produced "Et tilfelle av strofestreif" an installation that involves 5 "stations" and a "mother" that interact with whatever approaches them using infrared sensors and light sensitive sensors. All the boxes are equipped with speakers. Also each "station" has one light sensor that changes the whole tone and feel of the installation throughout the course of a day as the light goes from bright to dim and then dark at night. Also these light sensors can be manipulated by the subject interacting to create more sudden changes and to bring forth a hidden music track (some can be heard bellow). Each "station" is additionally equipped with an infrared distance sensor that controls parameters within the "mother" that output on the "station" as audible effects. The "mother" has different controls consisting of 3 buttons. They change the mood or theme of the whole setup. The 3 themes are: "Nature", "City" and "Inside". The installation is meant for 1 or more people to use and play with at their own free will, choreographing a dance of human interaction with machine.
